Supporting Mental Health with Chinese Medicine

Melanie Milne practices a gentle art of Chinese medicine here at EsoLab South Melbourne, using acupuncture to boost your body's own natural endorphins.

Scientific studies are showing the benefits of repeated acupuncture treatments on the mind and body. Acupuncture has been proven to boost immunity and the feel good hormones we need to feel happy and calm. Apart from treatment there are things you can do at home that will help. Here is a small list of things to do for a better sleep:

• Keeping your bedroom free of clutter and electronics for a more peaceful sleep
• Meditating before falling to sleep
• Writing a list of your worries and things to do and putting it away before you sleep
• Switching off the phone or putting it on silent and placing it in another room before sleep
• Reading a book instead of looking at a screen
• Doing a few stretches to loosen your diaphragm before bed
• Drinking a magnesium mineral supplement before bed
• Not working after dinnertime
• Making sure the stimulation around you is positive
• Comedy, friends to laugh with, positive books and people have a huge effect on our mental wellbeing.
